Archaeological
Fieldwork
We welcome a number of volunteers to join us during our six week summer excavation season. As a Project we aim to minimise hierarchy and bureaucracy, so volunteers have proper autonomy over their work, and gain understanding and a sense of involvement through participation in discussion and decision making. As far as practical, volunteers are able to choose areas of work, so that everyone can develop their skills and interests. If you wish to join us please go to our prospectus pages and download an application form. For more details about the summer excavation see our General and Summer FAQ pages. |

Taught
Courses
We run a number of six day and one day courses on a variety of archaeological and related subjects. For further details see our prospectus pages. |

If fieldwork is not for you then there are a great many other ways for you to become involved. We operate a policy of open-access to the site during working hours, 11am to 4pm Sunday to Friday - Saturday is our day off and the site is closed to visitors. |
|
|
|
Beginning at 3:45pm, the Friday Afternoon Site Tour comprises a series of small presentations by various members of the Project, detailing work conducted during the week. This done we begin a guided tour around the main excavation sites. To attend our tour, meet at the Marquee in the Boneyard at 3:30pm on Friday afternoons during the Summer Season. |

|
During the forthcoming summer season we shall be having
a site open day. It will be
possible to view the site at the height of the excavation. We will mount a series of exhibitions, practical demonstrations and
reconstructions, in addition to the usual working of the site.
Several
members of the team in period costume provide guided tours of the site
and SHARP merchandise, guide books and t-shirts will be on sale. Over
1000 people have attended our previous Open Days, so please come along
and join in the fun. SUNDAY

During our summer season we also run a series of public lectures that are open to all (there may be a small admission fee). These are usually held in the parish church and in the past we have had a very wide range of speakers from academics, professionals and enthusiasts in history, archaeology, East Anglian and many other topics. 2007 Programme |
