THE SEDGEFORD TORC TERMINAL

Found by volunteer, Dr. Steve Hammond, during field walking at Easter 2004, the terminal end of a Iron Age torc has caused widespread interest.

The most amazing thing about this find is that it is the missing end of an otherwise complete torc which was itself discovered in 1965. The torc is believed to be dated back over 2000 years. The terminal has now being reunited with the original piece at the British Museum.

Detail

This particular piece is of interest because the way it has been severed from the main torc gives a clear view of a strengthening bar actually inside the terminal.
The following pictures show the bar and intricate detail.
