SET UP WEEK (27th June to 2nd July 2004)

Not a lot to report as of yet… pretty much what you’d expect during set up week, although we’re all missing Tony’s cooking (don’t worry folks, he should be arriving tomorrow!). Apart from interruption by the occasional Norfolk monsoon or meeting, we’ve been out on site all week working hard to clear the site of last year’s backfill (this process should, according to Stu, be termed “front-emptying” rather than “de-backfilling”). This is almost finished, although things are looking a bit damp down in the Reeddam and as a result this area seems to have been left until last. The Village Survey have been organising our new wave of test pits and munching Bounty bars; this year they are hoping to target Docking Road, the Ringstead Road and the vicinity of West Hall. Human Remains are finalising next week’s course and Jim, Kel et al have been readying the campsite for the coming influx of volunteers. We’re pretty much on top of everything… The chalk pit tent isn’t up yet but it will be by the time you all get here!
