SEDGEFORD HISTORICAL  AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH PROJECT

Weblog Setup Week (26th June to 1st July 2005)

Naomi Payne

There was much excitement at the beginning of the week as a mechanical digger arrived to backfill (forever!) the original Reeddam trench and landscape various other bits of the site. Things are looking a bit different now. Our other main tasks have been preparing next week’s courses (Human Remains and Basic Training) and de-backfilling the trenches before our volunteers arrive on Saturday. Old Trench was completed very quickly, as the area still to be excavated is comparatively small, and after a huge effort from our on-site team we managed to get New Trench finished on Friday afternoon. Well done everyone!

It'll be quite a shock for all of you who have spent many happy hours digging in the mud there
