In summer, most of the volunteers camp on site, with a handful staying in local bed and breakfast and holiday homes or commuting each day from home. Toilets, hot and cold washing and showering facilities are available on site, as are clothes-washing facilities for those who are here for the long haul. Breakfast, lunch and evening meal are provided on site, please bring appropriate utensils.
Although the project runs a wide range of courses, these are not compulsory and many people (diggers must have appropriate experience) join in with SHARP excavations for the cost of facilities alone.
NB: Those on part subsistence who would like to have evening meals at the campsite may arrange this either on site or in advance – there will be a small charge per meal.
Over the Easter season, there are no charges for volunteers and you are reminded to make your own accommodation and subsistence arrangements.
• A deposit of £35 or payment in full for both facilities and course fees should be enclosed with your completed Application Form in order to secure your place on the Project/courses. Places will be allocated on a first-come/first-served basis. DEPOSITS ARE NON-RETURNABLE ONCE A PLACE HAS BEEN ALLOCATED.
• IMPORTANT: Payment in full for the Summer Season, covering both subsistence and course fees, is due by 1st June 2007. Failure to do so may result in your place being offered to another volunteer immediately after that date.
• Cheques should be made payable to SHARP.

Many people come to SHARP to participate in courses for enjoyment only, and although most courses include assessment of some manner, there is no obligation to undertake these if you do not wish to – however informal assessment does help to consolidate learning and is encouraged.
In addition, we offer students who wish for more formal learning, the opportunity to gain credits towards a further education qualification or to study towards a Certificate in Practical Archaeology run by the Centre for Continuing Education, University of East Anglia. Each of the accredited courses is worth 10 credits, for which you would pay an increased fee to cover administration, equipment and stationary costs. You must be aged 18 years or above to enrol for accredited certificate courses. Courses marked with # offer accreditation from the University of East Anglia but are also open to any volunteer.
If you would like more details about accreditation or the Certificate in Practical Archaeology, please contact the Centre for Continuing Education, University of East Anglia, on: 01603 593266 or email: cont.ed@uea.ac.uk
NB: All of our courses have a maximum number of people per week usually 8-12 and a minimum number of 4, unless otherwise stated. Places will be allocated on a first-come/first-served basis and it is recommended that you enrol before 1st June 2007 for the Summer Season. There is a limited number of UEA accredited places on each course. SHARP reserves the right to cancel any courses where numbers are below the minimum by this date. Volunteers will be informed of cancellations as soon as possible and a full refund will be made.
